The frightening trend of everyone outsourcing their wedding to their smartphones may be billed as a convenient, budget-friendly alternative, but will actually end up leaving you frustrated and disappointed on your wedding day.

Here are some stories on why apps are not always the best idea for your wedding day:

Meet Chelsea (not her real name), who moments before she is about to walk down the aisle has an officer of the court show up to her wedding to serve her soon to be husband papers from his ex-girlfriend. Chelsea made it down the aisle without stress because her real human wedding planner stepped in, and made the officer sit through a 2-hour catholic ceremony before talking to the bride and groom on their special day – they didn’t even know he was there, thanks to having a wedding planning team in place the couple weren’t even aware of his presence.

Meet Sandra (not her real name) who had always dreamed of an outdoor lakeside wedding but half an hour before her ceremony a huge storm came in. Her real-life wedding planner (not an app) came to the rescue and along with her team, picked up her iron gazebo and moved it inside through two small doors, so that she could have her garden feel sheltered from the storm… and no, there was no time to disassemble, move it appropriately and then reassemble. Sandra did not realize the scope of the work until after the ceremony had finished.

So as you can see, there are many situations when apps cannot intervene in real-life situations. Entrusting your entire planning process to a piece of software will inevitably backfire when you need on-the-ground expertise and operations management.
